Gwion Dafydd

Corporate Manager for Accountability and Progress in Ceredigion

Gwion was a founder member of e-sgol when it launched in Ceredigion in 2018, and currently oversees the project. He was appointed as Corporate Manager for Accountability and Progress in Ceredigion in September 2018 after initially working in the authority as a statistician and data analyst since 2012.

In his day-to-day role, he provides support for Ceredigion schools with regard to data management and performance tracking, while also managing school admissions and national data collections. 

After graduating with First Class Honours in Mathematics from Aberystwyth University in 2002, Gwion then qualified as a Mathematics teacher and taught for a few years before deciding to go travelling in North and South America for 6 months. After returning, Gwion worked in the Welsh Government’s Statistical Directorate in Cardiff for 6 years as a data analyst within several different departments including Schools, Student Finance, Transport and Local Government Finance. 

He moved back to West Wales in 2012 and now lives in Talgarreg with his wife, Elin, and young daughter, Martha Rhys. He’s a member of male voice choir, Ar Ôl Tri and is also a former chairman of Newcastle Emlyn RFC.
