Matt Edwards

IT Technical Support Advisor

Matt was seconded to the role of e-sgol IT technical support advisor on a part time basis in October 2020. Working closely with e-sgol’s team of coordinators, his main role is to provide strategic advice and technical guidance to the e-sgol project team based on his extensive knowledge from working with ICT systems, specifically within the educational sector, for over 20 years. Duties include reviewing current e-sgol setups and evaluating new products and systems that will help carry the project forward and continue its success.

Matt is currently employed as the ICT Facilities Manager at Ysgol Llanfyllin (Powys County Council) and has recently overseen the merger of two schools, Llanfyllin High School and Llanfyllin Primary School. During his time at Llanfyllin High School he has worked on a number of major ICT projects, which included being one of the first schools in the UK to transform the way we teach in the classroom by introducing new Tablet PC’s and wireless projectors back in 2004 and saw representatives from Microsoft visit the school to see the solution put in place.  This approach has seen several upgrades over the years and the knowledge gained from working with this technology over the years helps build a stable platform for the e-sgol project rollout.

Away from work, Matt enjoys swimming and is a keen runner and has taken part in many 10k and half-marathon races across the country as well as regularly attending local ParkRuns. His next personal goal is to complete his first full marathon.
