The e-sgol project, funded by the Welsh Government, has been running since September 2018, originally offering opportunities through e-learning to post-14 pupils that would not be available without this innovative provision. Our intention is to expand the provision available within Welsh schools in every region of the country so that a wide choice of qualifications and experiences are available to our young people, whether that be in the secondary sector or the primary sector.
Provision was expanded to the primary sector for the first time during 2023-2024, further simulating the e-scoil program in Scotland, the initial inspiration for our project here in Wales.
We aim to lead the way in terms of digital education in Wales ensuring high quality provision that takes advantage of the latest technological and educational developments.
In addition, e-sgol is responsible for Carlam Cymru - a bank of revision videos that reinforce the work that takes place in schools. Carlam Cymru also includes videos that explore Wellbeing, focusing on taking care of mental health during the exam period, and videos that give tips on effective revision.
In our development plan, we highlight the latest developments that we will aim towards in order to ensure the success of the project.
The full details of e-sgol’s plans can be read in the Development Plan 2023-2026
E-sgol annually evaluates its work against the Development Plan highlighting the impact that the project has on the educational landscape in Wales. A copy of this year’s Evidence of Impact Report can be downloaded below.
