Information for Learners

e-sgol is a project funded by Welsh Government to assist schools’ sixth form provision primarily in rural areas and their Welsh medium provision. The core principle of e-sgol is to ensure that you, the learners, regardless of location, receive the opportunities to study subjects that may not be available for you to study at your own schools.

The lessons are delivered using a blended learning approach and is driven by Hwb. Microsoft Teams is used to facilitate the lessons as a Virtual Learning Environment, and Microsoft OneNote is used to create notes and annotations. All learners are given training prior to the commencement of lessons and at numerous points during the year.

If you’re concerned that your subject choice won’t have enough numbers to run, there is no need to worry as e-sgol can solve this problem! e-sgol is a project which gets schools to work together, generally in specified clusters, for subjects with low numbers. The subjects currently being run through the project is shared on the courses page.

Important points for learners studying e-sgol subjects to consider:

  • You will be using your Hwb account for lessons. If you don’t know your Username, we can help.
  • The project uses Microsoft Teams with OneNote to facilitate the lessons.
  • Not all teaching will be done through Microsoft Teams. You will, as a minimum, travel once per half term for face to face lessons.
